The then-WWF writing team deserve credit for following one first with another. At 'Badd Blood: In Your House' in October, 1997, Shawn Michaels faced The Undertaker in the first ever Hell In A Cell match. Towards the end of the bout, Kane also made his very first physical appearance. Attacking his storyline brother, 'Taker, the masked man made an instant impression. Straight away, fans were aware that Kane was a huge threat to The Undertaker. For a while before his actual debut, Paul Bearer had been warning everyone of his impending arrival. It would have been easy for the WWF creative staff to simply fill up air time on the following evening's Raw broadcast with the debut, but they stamped a marker for Kane's legacy by having him appear as he did. Even at the time, there were worries that Kane would be a short-lived character. Nonetheless, it's fair to say that the WWF struck gold by having him rip the Cell door off and nail 'Taker with a Tombstone Piledriver. By costing his sibling the historic match, Kane instantly became a big deal.
