9. First Win Over The Undertaker On Raw
Before the June 1st, 1998 episode of Raw Is War, Kane had never defeated The Undertaker. Before the #1 Contender for the WWF Title battle outlined in this entry, the pair had met on 3 different occasions. In reality, the men behind both characters had actually faced one another more times than that, but that was when Glenn Jacobs was playing different gimmicks. Kane vs. The Undertaker naturally first took place at WrestleMania XIV. From there, a match on a special house show event in England ('Mayhem In Manchester'), and another bout at Unforgiven highlighted an emerging series between the duo. On all 3 of those occasions, Undertaker had his hand raised in victory. The June 1st match was designed to determine who would face Steve Austin for the WWF Title at the upcoming King of The Ring PPV. Kane would be that man, beating The Undertaker due to interference from Mankind. Even with the help, it was poignant that Kane actually won with a well-placed Tombstone Piledriver. This was a landmark moment for the character.
