10 Impulse Reactions Following WWE Great Balls Of Fire

Enzo Amoré yet again stole the show from his seven-foot chum with a pre-match promo substantially more engaging than the predictable squash between the two former partners.

Big Cass' gentle repackaging was continued at the show, with adjustments to his look as well as new theme music that felt ripped out of Jim Johnston darkest mid-2000 days. His uncompromising beatdown of his longtime buddy was exactly how a character like his needed to be portrayed, but the match represented a clear disconnect between how WWE saw the pair and just how much the fanbase cared for the duo.

The company were telling a brand new story of a dangerous giant's ascent from the tag team division. The audience were far more committed to his brutal betrayal. The short encounter subsequently felt entirely distanced from the feud, and the dissonance was only made clearer after another sterling hype job by Enzo Amoré.

Following the win, Big Cass is likely to go on a tear of similarly diminutive babyfaces. Kalisto and others can expect Empire Elbows every night for the next six months as Vince McMahon gets on with pushing his newest monster as he's wanted to all along. The Cruiserweight Division, bizarrely, may be a welcome safe space for Enzo as he embarks on the next phase of his career.
