10 Incredible Links Between Wrestlers You'd Never Expect
7. The CM Punk And Ultimate Warrior Bromance
You'd think these two men would despise one another - that's if the Ultimate Warrior even knew who CM Punk was.
The Ultimate Warrior was a staunch right-winger who once said, infamously, that "queering don't make the world work". He also said, in effect, that he felt no sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Katrina because "Their lives were already in ruin".
The Warrior was a remorseless piece of sh*t. CM Punk, who is hardly the nicest fellow himself depending on which half of every locker room he's ever been in you talk to, at least differs from the Warrior politically. Punk was brave enough to support the right to abortion in, of all places, Texas.
Moreover, Punk loathed Ryback for being a reckless worker, and Warrior injured or put into danger more than one of his colleagues. Punk, big on solidarity even if a situation does not concern him directly, would surely resent the Warrior for not protecting "the boys".
Not so; before the Warrior's 2014 death, he and Punk struck up a friendship. They used to DM via Twitter, which Punk's inner child got a massive kick out of. In a deleted scene from Punk's 'Best In The World' bioDVD, the messages are shown. Punk's reads "You are the f*cking man". They were, in the early 2010s anyway, on friendly terms.
Punk's hero didn't injure him, so it's different.
