10 Incredible Wrestling Title Wins That Led To AWFUL Title Reigns

7. Chyna (WWF Intercontinental Title)

Chris Jericho was right about Chyna.

Some misty-eyed fondness for her body of work still exists in some quarters, but the truth is that...Chyna was never that great in-ring. Was she horrible? No, not at all, but she wasn't the kind of wrestler anyone could rely upon to produce the goods night after night. Her first IC Title reign proved that.

Incredible circumstances (including Jeff Jarrett holding out for money before bolting to WCW) surrounded Chyna's first title win in a barmy-but-fun 'Good Housekeeping' match at No Mercy 1999. It was a genuinely historic moment, no doubt. The coming chaos vs. Jericho, and their eventual co-champs deal, though?

Weak.

Chyna's 56-day reign pre-loss to Y2J at Armageddon was a bleak reminder of her shortcomings. Read Jericho's books if you want to learn what it was like for the then-incomer to work with someone so limited who thought she was world class between the ropes.
