10 Incredible WWE Hardcore Title Matches You Need To See

5. Rob Van Dam Vs. Chris Jericho - Unforgiven 2001

Man was Rob Van Dam on a roll in 2001, or what? Considering his ever-increasingly popularity and string of good matches, it's mind-boggling to think that he ended up sliding down the card as 2002 rolled around. Van Dam had a few things going against him, namely the fact that he didn't take himself or the business too seriously and that he routinely sliced open or otherwise injured his opponents with his stiff kicks and chair-based offense. One of those opponents was the man he faced off with at Unforgiven 2001 - Chris Jericho. Jericho and Van Dam would frequently have arguments before, during and after their matches when Van Dam first came to the WWF. It was a question over who would get in their offense when and also Van Dam's tendency to kick him square in the teeth. Thankfully both me were on the same page during their big Hardcore Championship (although Jericho was once again split open midway through the bout). The match was a total show-stealer with RVD and Y2J beating the snot out of each other with chairs and ladders.
