4. Al Snow Vs. Hardcore Holly - St. Valentine's Day Massacre 1999
One of the best things about the Hardcore Championship was that it gave many under-utilised midcard guys something to do. Don't know what to do with Al Snow, Hardcore Holly, Billy Gunn and Steve Blackman? Just give 'em seven minutes of TV time and a bunch of weapons and see what happens. Hey, something was better than nothing, and the hardcore division also let these talented but oft-overlooked performers be more creative than they could in regular matches. The first half of 1999 was carried by Holly and Snow who battled each other at St Valentine's Day Massacre and Backlash. Both matches were entertaining, but their Massacre match was the superior effort and had a very memorable finish to boot. After the requisite brawling around the backstage and parking lot area, the two men found their way into the Mississippi River. It must have been freezing. After their little swim, Holly wrapped Snow up in some chain-link fence and scored the victory. Hey, the man's name was Hardcore Holly, how could he not become the Hardcore Champion? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r1FVfll2Gw
