10 Incredible WWE Moments Nobody Ever Talks About

6. Jim Ross Elevates Pungent Trash

Because this moment prefaced one of the worst or at least most puzzling moments in WWE history, nobody remembers how good Jim Ross' promo was when he introduced the fake Razor Ramon and Diesel in 1996.

An utterly bizarre and moronic publicity stunt, in which Vince McMahon wanted you to believe that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall actually were coming back - and then resent an announcer who couldn't wrestle when they didn't - the only remotely possible payoff was the stinging embarrassment of a self-own.

JR's promo was outstanding. A heartfelt, caustic rant - unleashed when the fourth wall was firmly in place, making it feel like a transgression - it was informed by the mess he'd just inherited and his awful treatment by Vince McMahon (which somehow had barely even began). In 1994, Vince didn't renew JR's contract after he first suffered Bells Palsy.

Ross ran through his secret mistreatment, but was so great that the intended hatchet job effectively became Jim's version of the Hard Times promo.

It was meant to be an embittered, heel tirade, but JR's delivery was so fantastic that, when he neared the crescendo, you half-wanted him to win the belt!
