10 Incredibly Dumb Things That Happen In WWE Every Year
8. Thanksgiving Food Fights
WWE has a love for the holidays. It plays up the spookiness around Halloween, as seen with the 2020 Halloween Havoc edition of NXT. As Christmas nears, Santa Claus often makes an appearance on WWE programming, including Tribute to the Troops.
For Thanksgiving, however, WWE goes a little bit off the deep end.
When WWE isn't debuting a turkey to a less than thrilled crowd, it celebrates turkey season with an old-fashion food fight. And nothing adds credibility to its product quite like grown adults throwing food at each other as though still in grade school, right?
But it's true, Vince McMahon enjoys a good ol' cafeteria showdown as much as snowcones and meat wraps. Nearly every year around Thanksgiving, the WWE Universe can expect to see (or is it endure?) several mid-to-lower-card wrestlers sell such bumps as gravy dumps, biscuit tosses, and that thing they do where they put a turkey on someone's head.
And for what? No commentator has ever declared, "That superstar has certainly made an impact after the unforgettable food fight last Thanksgiving." Who is it for? An even better question. Suppose any former fan landed on WWE while at home for the holidays. The childish turkey brawl would surely keep them flipping through the channels rather than signing up for The Network to Survivor Series.
