10 Indie Wrestling Easter Eggs That Played Out In WWE

10. John Cena Throwing Up B-Boy's Hand Gesture

For the first seven years of John Cena's career, as the now 15-time World Heavyweight Champion would enter the ring, he'd throw up a hand signal that involved him clenching his fists and extending either pinky finger. Intriguingly enough, Southern California-based independent pro wrestler B-Boy would throw up the same signal as he entered the ring, highlighting his hand motions during the the first few rapped bars of his entrance theme, "Real Muthaf***in' G's" by Eazy-E. Of course, given that B-Boy is currently 36 and Cena is 37, the two shared 1999-2001 as years honing their craft in Los Angeles based independent promotion Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). When Cena began his turn into being - similar to B-Boy - a character with a distinctive "urban" flavor, Cena's merchandise began to prominently feature the hand signal initially made popular by B-Boy. Was Cena's use of the hand signal a shout-out to his roots? Or was it a case of direct gimmick infringement? Nobody except the two wrestlers involved know the truth, but intriguingly, since 2009, Cena throws up two un-joined hands with three fingers extended representing his character's mantra of "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect."
