8. The Pipebomb Was A Work

2011 was the summer of Punk. Following an epic promo where he tears into everybody, including his own fans, he won the WWE championship and promptly left the company with title in hand. Well, he left for a week and then returned, but either way, he had sent a surge of energy through the WWE universe. He was the hottest star for months and was seen as the next anti-authority figure who was so popular he could do whatever he wanted.

The thing about CM Punk that many people love is that he is totally unpredictable. He also loves to screw with the heads of wrestling fans, so there is no way to really know if what he is saying was a total shoot, or if he had permission to say anything he wanted.

It is accepted that what CM Punk said in his most famous pipebomb was actually how he felt, but was he told to do it? Was Vince himself responsible for the vitriol that spewed out of Punk's mouth that night? Is it possible that CM Punk and Vince McMahon were working together the entire time to stir up the WWE Universe?

Some people swear that it was a legitimate shoot, while others claim the heat between the two was part of the plan all along. The truth probably lies somewhere in between, but with Punk's most recent departure we can be sure that he wasn't entirely happy with the company.
