The future ECW Champion made just one Rumble appearance in 2006, despite serving WWE for almost four years. He was one of the company's ascending stars when he entered at number eight but ended up being the sixth man eliminated after less than four-and-a-half minutes in the ring. He managed to eliminate Sylvain Grenier before falling victim to both The Big Show and Kane. His failure to make only one Rumble appearance was down to his own success. Lashley was the leading man on WWE's version of ECW for a while and faced the late Test for the ECW Championship at the 2007 Rumble, retaining his belt via a count out. He would of course go on to face, and defeat, Umaga at WrestleMania XXIII in the Battle of the Billionaires, causing Vince McMahon to lose his hair.
