From The Game to The Architect, and in 2015 Seth Rollins found himself dealt with a similarly frustrating blow to that of his on-screen mentor 14 years earlier.

Rollins was in the midst of a decent run as the cocky pr*ck WWE Champion of the company and had squirmed his way to victory against the likes of Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Kane.

Whatever your feelings were towards the snivelling heel character that Rollins was tasked with portraying, you couldn't argue with that list of scalps and his impressive streak looked set to continue.

That was until he tore both his ACL and MCL attempting a sunset flip powerbomb on Kane at a live event in Dublin.

This completely altered whatever plans WWE had for Rollins going into WrestleMania. So, thinking on their feet, the company decided to announce a tournament which would determine the next champion. Reigns would go on to win said tournament at Survivor Series and be crowned the newest WWE Champ.

However, despite his first reign lasting about 10 seconds, this new found direction involving The Big Dog feuding with Triple H further turned the fans against Reigns and things would eventually implode at WrestleMania 32.

With the crowd universally lambasting the image of a victorious Reigns post-main event, it forced many to ponder whether they would have ever been subjected to this forced 'feel-good' moment if Rollins' knee hadn't buckled under the pressure of carrying the company... as he put it.
