In the cruellest of ironies, that same Architect whose badly timed injury had cost him a world title was given front row seats to that very same piece of history repeating itself at SummerSlam 2016.

Finn Bálor burst onto the main roster like he had a point to prove and it didn't take long for people to get the message - he meant business.

Knocking off Roman Reigns (clean!) on his first night, Bálor won the right to go toe to toe with Seth Rollins in the main event at the Biggest Party of the Summer and went on to become the inaugural Universal Champion.

Yet, we sadly all know what came next and it soon became apparent that Bálor had dislocated his shoulder in the match, before completely tearing his labrum. This led to yet another world title being vacated in less than a year, but it did open the door for an unlikely new champion.

Kevin Owens completely shocked the world when he won a fatal four-way for the newly vacated belt and went on to enjoy a long - often badly booked - reign as the Raw brand's world champion, forging one of the greatest partnerships/break-ups in recent memory with his 'best friend', Chris Jericho. This probably would never have been possible if not for the former Bullet Club leader's absence.

Bálor's injury also led to Vince McMahon losing even more faith in talents of a 'smaller' stature and his beloved Universal title didn't end up around the waist of somebody who weighed less than a Heavyweight until Rollins finally conquered Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
