Ripping into the Attitude Era is very much in vogue among wrestling critics these days, but the period’s creative output deserves to be put to task. Attitude made millions of dollars, and WWE may never be that successful again, but the era was plagued with horrendous, cringe-worthy angles, many of which stand among the worst in company history.

Mark Henry’s relationship with the elderly Mae Young sits near the top of the pile. She and ‘Sexual Chocolate’ hooked up in the late-'90s, and somewhere down the line, Mark managed to impregnate her as part of the storyline. Among other terrible moments, the arc saw the mammoth Viscera splash Young while she was carrying Henry’s child, but the worst was yet to come.

Mae gave birth, but not to a baby - to a hand.

It was every bit as stupid as it sounds. Revisiting the scene, it's impossible not to cringe as the slime-covered body part emerges from beneath the 77-year-old’s sheets. It was gross, distasteful, and totally absurd, even for the Attitude Era, and while WWE programming still gets far-fetched from time to time, we’ll never see anything this boneheaded again.
