10 Insane WWE Superstars Who Should Have Been Committed

4. Goldust

TAFKA Goldust For many fans, the 1990s was an era full of weird characters. From the Repo Man, to Isaac Yankem, DDS, to Men on a Mission, it was on odd time for the WWE, but out of all the characters to come out of the twisted nether that was the creative team at that time, none was more bizarre than Goldust. A revolutionary character for its time, Goldust was an intentionally androgynous character who took ring psychology to another level. Playing off of many wrestlers€™ (and fans€™) discomfort towards homosexuality at the time, Goldust disturbed many people by behaving, well, like a sex-obsessed pervert. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqLQ6qRV2fY A prime example of that perversion would be the promo in the above video. Goldust comes down in a suggestive outfit, complete with ball-gag in mouth, led by a leash by Luna Vachon. It was just one of those incredibly bizarre moments in the WWE that really brought Goldust€™s sanity into question. As a character, did he really enjoy all of this? Was he really that much of a pervert? Did he really suggest getting breast implants to help improve his character? If so, he must€™ve been one committed (pun intended) method actor. Though Goldust has become one of the most memorable characters in WWE history, it€™s surprising that he was never committed for one of his (many) neuroses. Whether it was his perversion, his foot fetish, his stuttering or his schizophrenia (Black Reign), it is a wonder that he escaped the white straightjacket for so long.
