10 Insights Into Working With Vince McMahon

4. Vince's Love For The Garden

I think MSG represented many things to Vince. First of all, I€™m sure it symbolised to him that he had made IT. A kid growing up in North Carolina, Vince had a tough childhood. His father left home when he was just a baby, bringing his oldest son with him. From there Vince survived abuse to both himself and his mom, through a variety of unruly stepfathers. Fortunately for Vince, he reunited with Vince Sr. at 12 years-old, and the rest is history! Vince McMahon Sr. is a member of the Madison Square Garden Hall of Fame, and this is indeed the fact as to why this building means so much to him. I can remember on my first visit to the Garden as an employee of the WWE, I received an earful from Vince because I didn€™t wear a jacket and tie to the event. Vince himself pulled me aside, and explained to me that his father was enshrined in the Hall of Fame there, and what that meant to him. I remember being very touched by that, and having even a greater respect for Vince due to that incident.
