The second match taped prior to TakeOver was actually set up on NXT TV a couple of weeks ago. After The Authors of Pain defeated Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nails and kept the beating going, TM-61 ran in to make the save. Unfortunately, they also wound up fodder for the titanic tandem.

This first match between the two teams was about what you'd expect - TM-61 used their speed and ability to hit a few flurries of offense on the as-yet-unnamed Authors, but for the most part, the larger men were dominant with some slow and uninspired attacks.

In the end, The Authors of Pain hit stereo powerbombs on TM-61, then finished the former GHC Tag Team Champions off with a Russian Legsweep/Lariat combination. While this was likely the Authors' best match to date, it was still disappointing to see them go over more talented and experienced men. It's just proof that NXT may be great, but it's still WWE.
