10 Issues WWE Needs To Address In 2022

WWE is ultimately a storytelling business, with the ability to script their plots and characters well in advance, thereby conjuring a tale with real depth that rewards long time viewers. And yet, for whatever reason, they never seem to think beyond the next pay per view.

Watching WWE week to week, month to month, there’s absolutely no sense that there’s any kind of a plan. For the most part, they’ve forgotten how to build an angle, and resort to the same matches over and again. When something doesn’t work right away - Nikki A.S.H’s championship run, for example - they’re liable to pull the plug immediately.

Compare this to AEW, a company that manages to spin many plates at any given time. Take a wrestler like MJF and see how the strands of his various feuds were strung out from month to month, or the intricate character development of Adam Page.

It’s funny that a company so obsessed with scripting every word that comes out of their talent’s mouth is so unwilling to take the time to sit down and think about the kayfabe consequences of their actions. Though when they know the boss could storm in any minute and tear up the script, maybe it does feel a little pointless.
