10 Issues WWE Needs To Address In 2022
7. Cuts & Staffing
One of the biggest sources of negative press for WWE during the pandemic has been its sudden, mass cuts of talent and staff. The timing as well as the spurious reasoning (“budget cuts” during an unprecedented lucrative period) raised eyebrows, but for those let go, we can only wish the best. Some are already thriving elsewhere; hopefully, the rest will, too.
For those left behind, though, it must be a tense professional environment indeed. Unless you’re Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch, and a handful of other top stars, you’re going to work under a cloud. For every cut that made sense (from a creative if not humane standpoint), there were baffling decisions made. It feels as though almost anyone could be next.
WWE needs to ensure everyone in their employ knows where they stand, and the corporate landscape made abundantly clear. It’s already a massively strange workplace with politics galore and an unpredictable boss. The possibility of sudden unemployment at any moment makes it nightmarish.
WWE is a business, ultimately, and they’re within their rights to dismiss whoever they like, but if they don’t want to tarnish their reputation yet further, they need to treat their staff a whole lot better than they have in the past two years.
