It’s disappointing to see Sami Zayn floundering on SmackDown, considering the fanfare surrounding his debut in WWE.

In May of 2015, Cena issued another open challenge for the U.S. Title, and Bret Hart walked out. The Montreal crowd was stunned to see The Hitman because he clearly was in no condition to compete. The WWE Hall of Famer explained that he was there to introduce the real challenger, a hometown boy looking to jump from NXT.

Zayn entered to a thunderous ovation, and with the endorsement of Hart, seemed to be the man to finally beat Cena. Although the match went back-and-forth, Cena ultimately prevailed. Unfortunately, Zayn’s momentum was derailed as he suffered a major shoulder injury while playing to the crowd before the match.

Perhaps his WWE run has been snake-bit ever since.
