10 Killer PPV Openers Nobody Talks About

2. Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit - WWE Vengeance 2003

In July, 2003, Eddie Guerrero was slowly in the process of turning babyface. Even though he was cheating and stealing his way through matches, fans recognised the talent Guerrero had, and found his scheming character to be pretty endearing - this new found love from the fans would lead to the biggest period of Guerrero's career, culminating in him becoming WWE Champion. At Vengeance, Guerrero met Chris Benoit to crowd a new WWE United States Champion. The title had been vacated, and a tournament was held throughout the month to crowd a new champion. Fans were salivating when the brackets were whittled down to only Guerrero and Benoit, and few could wait to see them lock up on Pay-Per-View. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3sq4x_vengeance-2003-chris-benoit-vs-eddi_news It's been said that both these guys could have a great match with a broomstick, but they didn't need to, because they had each other. On the same show, John Cena would face The Undertaker, in a showdown which would go a long way towards ensuring he would be a top star before too long, but people had a hard time accepting any match after the clinic put on by these former Radicalz.
