6. For The Benefit Of All Mankind
In one of Mick Foley's books, the iconic bump-taker remarks that he dodged a proverbial bullet upon signing with the McMahons. Mankind eventually became one of the most beloved characters in federation history, but would Foley have had quite as much success had he been known as Mason The Mutilator? Instead lobbying to have the name of his new persona changed to Mankind, Foley created magic under his mask, and was the kind of character WWF fans of the mid-90's had been crying out for. Later in the same Raw telecast, Mankind would attack The Undertaker, instantly letting fans watching know that the character was going to be a big part of things going forward. It was a great debut, one Foley played to perfection. Mick Foley would go on to have similar success when debuting his other gimmicks, Cactus Jack and Dude Love, proving that he had a great mind for the business.
