10 Lamest Wrestling Authority Figures

2. WCW President Ric Flair

WCW often booked Ric Flair well in spite of themselves, repeatedly giving the 'Nature Boy' the sort of roles that would chase out lesser performers but only inspire 'Slick Ric' to somehow get the sh*t over. Or, at very least, rely on his indestructible relationship with the company's fanbase to make it passable.

Such was the case in 1998 when a babyface Flair at long last 'saved' the company from the evil command of New World Order stalwart and corrupt Executive Vice President Eric Bischoff in an electric Monday Nitro payoff to their worked-shoot rivalry. Flair gained controlling interest of WCW by virtue of the victory, becoming company 'President' in an angle that could have made the most of Flair's superlative oratory skills matched against the fierce new opposition of the nWo Elite.

Authority wasn't destined to actually empower Flair though - it instead sent him insane. A heel turn just months into the tenure saw him gain delusions of grandeur and - like most authority figures - suddenly favour heels for no adequately explained reason. Badly acted skits of him in 'running the show' in a mental institution served only to embarrass him further.
