8. Lance Storm Is Outed As 'Boring' On Live TV
A lot of modern-day pro wrestling fans can be heard complaining that WWE often undermine their wrestlers on live TV. That may well be the case, but at least they don't come out and tell everyone that a wrestler is boring nowadays. That's exactly what happened to Lance Storm, and his career - not so shockingly - never recovered from the move. One of the finest technical wrestlers of his generation, Storm admittedly didn't have the best promo skills. A stoic and serious individual, the man was nonetheless revered for his in-ring skill. In bygone eras, perhaps the company would have given him a manager to offset his lack of verbal ability. That wasn't the case in 2003, when Steve Austin started calling him dull on TV. Austin was the co-General Manager of Raw along with Eric Bischoff. During Lance Storm's matches, the babyface GM would emerge and lead 'boring' chants directed at the Canadian. This was baffling, because it directly told people that solid technical wrestling was something to be jeered. Instead of enhancing the man's obvious ability, WWE turned it into a negative.
