Cesaro and Sheamus will finally conclude their “Best of 7” match series at Clash of Champions, and it’s been an enjoyable ride thus far. Sheamus opened the series with three consecutive victories, but Cesaro has gradually clawed his way back, and they now sit at 3-3 with everything on the line in the final match.

This was always how the series was likely to play out, and as soon as Sheamus went 3-0, it was all but guaranteed that WWE were heading for a seventh match. These men won’t just be fighting for pride at Clash, though: there’s an undisclosed title shot on the line, and while this has been subject to plenty of speculation in the build-up, it looks like whoever emerges victories will fight for the Universal Championship in the near future.

With the story set to conclude, there’s a strong possibility that the number one contender will be announced live on PPV this Sunday, but who’s going to take it? Sheamus has much more experience at main event level, but fans won’t exactly be thrilled at the prospect of another aimless main event run for him. Instead, Cesaro is widely expected to topple the Irishman, and given his tremendous ability and long-held status as one of WWE’s most under-pushed workers, a Universal Title program for him would be welcomed by all.
