10 Last-Minute WWE Extreme Rules 2017 Rumours You Need To Know
3. "The Drifter" Costs Dean Ambrose The Intercontinental Title
For a show called Extreme Rules, this Sunday's PPV boasts a strange Intercontinental Title match. According to the rules of the bout, if champion Dean Ambrose is disqualified, then his opponent, The Miz, will claim the gold for the seventh time.
Few fans would argue that the Intercontinental Championship didn't seem more important last year, when Miz made it a centerpiece of his return to elite-level status. The Ambrose experiment has probably reached a natural ending point, and putting the belt back on Miz is a no-brainer. This stipulation is also a good chance to let the former WrestleMania headliner come off as even more of a jerk, as he can win the title without really "winning" the title.
Sealing the deal is Elias Samson, who was attacked by Dean Ambrose and has since promised revenge. If "The Drifter" gets involved in the bout and merely slugs Miz, he'll cause a title change and get a true measure of payback on "The Lunatic Fringe." That'll spark a feud between Ambrose and Samson, and given that's where we seem to be headed, this one is far more likely than not.
