For many weeks, vignettes have been playing on Smackdown to advertise the return of former WWE Tag Team Champion Curt Hawkins. The clips all feature "Curt Hawkins Facts" read by the superstar himself, meant to play off an Internet meme that was popular about a decade ago.

Hawkins teased appearing on Smackdown last month, but it never materialized - instead, the vignettes continued. On last week's show, though, he promised to get in the ring at No Mercy, but there was no opponent announced.

WWE can go two ways with Hawkins's return match, given that he's already being treated as a comedy character - either they can have him defeat an enhancement talent (James Ellsworth, anybody?) and celebrate excessively over what the announcers will treat as a minor achievement, or he can simply get destroyed.

If it's going to be the latter, there's probably nobody better for the job than Kane. Despite nearing 50 years of age and only wrestling sparingly, "The Big Red Machine" is still, for some reason, protected in the company's booking. It's not hard to imagine Kane coming to the ring, beating Hawkins in a match shorter than his entrance, and then heading to the back.
