10 Last WWE Stars To Take Banned Wrestling Moves

7. Shinsuke Nakamura - Muscle Buster

The Muscle Buster is another move which is not technically proscribed, but for all intents and purposes might as well be, given the circumstances of its proprietor.

In June 2015, Samoa Joe busted out his then finisher on Tyson Kidd during a Raw dark match. The consequences were nearly fatal. A slight misjudgement of Kidd's position left him with a severe spinal cord injury, requiring 16 stitches, four screws and a rod in his neck to fix. Were it not thanks to his unnaturally thick pro wrestler's neck, there's a 95% chance Tyson would not have survived. Needless to say, his career ended in that instant.

Since then, Samoa Joe has largely replaced the Muscle Buster with the Coquina Clutch as his go-to match-ender. Though he's stated on record that he can use the move at his pleasure should he choose to, we haven't seen it in action since it dropped Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II back in August 2016. Joe's own injury issues mean we're unlikely to see it again.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
