10 Least Authoritative WWE Authority Figures

8. Sgt. Slaughter

YOU MAGGOT! Hey look, it's Sarge. Sgt. Slaughter, that is. After a long old in-ring career as a patriotic American hero, Slaughter returned to WWE (WWF at the time) in 1997, as the first ever Commissioner. Many followed after him, but Slaughter's main job in his authority role - before we saw Mr. McMahon get on the air in a figurehead capacity - was to control an unruly new group known as D-Generation X. The majority of his time was spent trying to get one up on the likes of Chyna, Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but Slaughter had a hard time doing so. This was at a time when DX were beginning to flourish as an immature and rebellious force, though Slaughter's old-fashioned and hard-nosed ways were the perfect characteristics for DX to play off. While DX would often find a way around Slaughter's fool proof orders - we all remember THAT European title match on Raw - Slaughter sold the mockery like a champ. Protective visors with screen wipers to stop his spitting? Genius.
