10 Least Effective Swerve Turns In Wrestling History

2. Vince McMahon

In order to reveal himself as the Higher Power - the mastermind (lol) behind the Corporate Ministry stable - Mr. McMahon had to orchestrate the following events in service of a storyline that had more plot holes than Dolph Ziggler has excuses for his failed main event run.

- Genuinely sacrifice his daughter to a demonic entity just, you know, to work Steve Austin.

- Rely on several of his performers, many of whom, like DX, were rebellious by nature, to simply forget about the violent acts inflicted upon them to serve his personal grudge.

- Jeopardised his son's relationship with his sister just, you know, to work Steve Austin.

And so on. In one word, it was a retcon. One dumb, dumb reveal unravelled months' worth of television. And it did not influence the following events one bloody iota; McMahon, who had just orchestrated the most despicable heel ruse in WWF history to become its absolute focal point, left (!) and then returned as a babyface (!).

I lived through this, I've written about it several times, and I've still spent a good 40 minutes writing approximately 200 words trying to remember details that did not matter at all. The WWF had the stars. It didn't need to make sense.

And it became even more popular when Vince Russo f*cked off.
