10 Least Effective WWE World Champions Ever

It takes more than a belt to make someone a champion.

For old school professional wrestling fans, one of the biggest issues with WWE today is how irrelevant the various world championships are. Once the most prestigious accolades in the sport, winning a world championship was never easy. Iconic performers like Jake 'The Snake' Roberts, Owen Hart, 'Mr. Perfect' Curt Hennig, and more went their entire careers without one.

Modern times have changed all of this, as winning a title has become less and less important in the eyes of the company and the fans. Belts change hands frequently, and more often than not those in possession of the straps are presented as being of less importance than others on the card. It is a far cry from the days of the world champ legitimately being the number one guy.

Even within this depressing reality, some champions are less effective than others. Whether it is by only retaining the title through nefarious means, or even having multiple reigns that were over in a flash, some individuals found themselves in the right place at the wrong time, or the wrong place at the right time.

These are the ten least effective WWE World Champions in the history of the company. For the sake of argument, this includes WWE Champions, World Heavyweight Champions, and Universal Champions. Different belts, same idea.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
