10 Least Likely WWE Ladder Match Competitors Ever
9. Ric Flair
The Nature Boy had seen and done it all in a forty-year career. 16-Time World Champion, Royal Rumble winner, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer and participant in countless five-star matches, amongst many other things. He had not, until January 2006, ever been in a ladder match, however.
That all changed when the then-56-year-old went one on one with Edge in a TLC match. Yes, Edge, the WWE Champion and a man with more ladder match experience than just about anyone else. Could the veteran upset the Rated-R Superstar for World Title number seventeen that night in Raleigh, North Carolina (AKA Flair Country)?
Sadly, it was not to be, but that didn't stop Naitch from putting on a tremendous show with his younger foe. He took a serious amount of punishment, including a brutal superplex from the top of the ladder. It was perhaps not the 'cleanest' performance, but the emotion was certainly there and the crowd were with them all the way.
WWE were clearly impressed, since they injected Flair into the Money in the Bank ladder match two months later at WrestleMania 22. Once again, the Dirtiest Player in the Game decided not to coast and took another wicked superplex from the top of the ladder along with other bone-jarring bumps and falls.
Although many eyebrows were raised when watching Flair in TLC and MITB scenarios, he proved that it doesn't matter how old you might be or how many miles you have on the clock, if the passion and drive are there then it's easy to overlook how odd it might appear on the surface.
