He was nicknamed the "Dean of wrestling announcers", and was an absolute joy to listen to. Solie maintained a subtle element in every match he called, yet he stayed with every move and would give the match a very clear direction from his position. It was rare to ever hear any dead air from Solie, as he was a professional from the word go. This constant sense of drive gave the matches enhanced pacing, yet he was always respectful to the performers in the ring. Solie also had a precise knowledge of the moves and holds, which enabled him to speak intelligently.
