10 Legends Who Never Held Gold In WWE

3. Dusty Rhodes

€œThe American Dream€ is known for his flamboyant style inside the ring and for his gift of gab outside of it. The son of plumber from Austin, Texas achieved great success throughout his career, but most of it came during his time in the National Wrestling Alliance. While working for NWA€™s Jim Crockett Promotions, big Dust captured several mid-card titles, and even became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion on one occasion. However, while Rhodes would acquire even more popularity in the WWF as the polka dot-clad €œCommon Man€, he would fail to attain a single championship. During this run, Rhodes most famously feuded with the €œMacho King€ Randy Savage. Dusty had his sweet Sapphire by his side, while Savage was accompanied by his €œSensational Queen€ Sherri Martel. Together, these four met at WrestleMania VI in the Federation€™s first ever mixed tag match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3b5t7idbDU Dusty€™s run with the WWF was short-lived, lasting just over two years between 1989 and 1991. However, Rhodes had an even briefer stint with the then-World Wide Wrestling Federation in 1977. During that time, €œThe American Dream€ challenged WWWF Champion €œSuperstar€ Billy Graham for his title. Dusty failed at defeating Graham, however, and would never receive another shot at Federation gold.

He has no backup plan to speak of, yet maintains his abnormally high spirits. If he had only listened to the scorn of his childhood teachers, he wouldn't be in this situation.
