10 Legends Who Never Held Gold In WWE

4. Jimmy €œSuperfly€ Snuka

Jimmy Snuka spent a total of eight years in the World Wrestling Federation, with a brief stint in the American Wrestling Association in between runs. The Superfly was typically found in the upper-mid card, with occasional stints at the top. Despite his ever-prominent popularity in the ranks of the Federation, the Superfly could never quite seem to capture the big one. For that matter, Snuka never actually held a single championship in all his years with the WWF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waakFr6PmUw The Superfly€™s most famous came in 1983 during a cage match against the €œMagnificent€ Don Muraco. The iconic moment saw a bloodied Snuka climb to the top of the cage and came crashing down with a Superfly Splash. Despite this, Snuka was unable to wrest the Intercontinental Championship away from Muraco. The infamous moment came after the conclusion of the match, which saw Muraco successfully retain his gold. Snuka was also unsuccessful in an attempt to attain the WWF Championship just a year earlier in 1982. The Superfly squared off with defending champion Bob Backlund on numerous occasions that year, but again the most infamous moment took place inside the dreaded steel cage. Snuka, who was a villain at the time, perched himself atop the cage as he would just one year later against Muraco. This time, however, as the Superfly soared through the air, Bob Backlund would roll out of the way, leaving Snuka to crash hard into the mat and allowing Backlund to retain his title.
