10 Lesser-Known Ridiculous WCW Moments
6. Everybody Hates Page
The spring of 2000 was a very rough time for Diamond Dallas Page indeed - like the biblical Job, he found himself on the a**-end of some very hard times, and was given all he could bear.
In the span of just a few weeks, Page's wife Kimberly turned on him to join The New Blood, his friend David Arquette did the exact same thing, and his other friend, Kanyon, was thrown off a steel cage by Mike Awesome. The assault on Kanyon left the star hospitalized and in a halo brace. Still, Page promised to keep fighting for his injured pal.
At The Great American Bash, Page took on Awesome in an ambulance match that was supposed to see him get revenge for Kanyon. In fact, he was so confident that he brought his wheelchair-confined friend out to the ramp. During the course of the match, though, Kanyon got out of the chair and turned on Page, putting him through a table with a Diamond Cutter.
Kanyon must have clearly hated Page to side with the man who threw him off a steel cage. Or maybe that was planned and somehow faked? Was he ever really hurt? The whole thing is a bit confusing to think about, but DDP soon left WCW, returning only when Kevin Nash asked him to be his tag team partner.
