The Rock Vs. John Cena – the match billed as "Once in a Lifetime."
WWE hyped it up as the ultimate showdown, a clash of titans that would only happen once. WrestleMania 28 was the stage, and the anticipation was through the roof. Fans were promised a unique, never-to-be-repeated match.
Lies.
Just one year later, at WrestleMania 29, we got the rematch. Twice in a lifetime was born and The Rock and John Cena squared off again, this time for the WWE Championship. It was as if WWE hoped everyone would forget the original tagline. Don't they know wrestling fans by now?
The rematch was all about redemption for Cena, but it left many fans scratching their heads. The grand promise of a one-time-only event was shattered. WWE loves to create these epic narratives, but sometimes they just can't resist going back to the well.
The rematch at WrestleMania 29 proved that "Once in a Lifetime" was more of a marketing slogan than a true promise.
