For a long while, it felt like Dean Ambrose was the Shield's ugly duckling.

Having not received a concerted push, he just seemed destined for a career in the upper mid-card, while former running mates Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins - both of whom had already had their watershed WrestleMania moments (Ambrose's biggest scalp on the Grandest Stage of Them All was a glorified squash match against a disinterested Brock Lesnar) - went on to become the de facto faces of the company.

Fortunately, audience reaction doesn't count for nothing, and the fans weren't going to allow one of their favourites to slip through the cracks. WWE finally paid Dean his due at Money in the Bank 2016, when he pinned Rollins for what will probably (or rather: hopefully) be the first of many World title victories for the Lunatic Fringe.

Yes, it was an ambush, and yes, his run as champ was desperately disappointing - but it rightly earned one of wrestling's biggest crowd reactions of 2016.
