10 Live Observations From Attending WWE Raw In Minneapolis
2. Perhaps Axel Does Have Something
“Skol!”
When Curtis Axel came out to the arena, he received a pretty big pop. The hometown crowd seemed to appreciate his skills more than the creative team does. It may have been hard to make out, but he received a ton of “skol!” chants throughout his match, which is the cheer for the Minnesota Vikings this year. It basically means “cheers” in Norwegian, or “Go!” Go Axel!
While he did a pretty good job of getting the crowd worked up in his favor with his pre-match promo, you have to wonder how Joe Hennig felt about being handed a script that told him to bring up his grandfather and his beloved dead father knowing he had to job in four minutes.
It would have been best to have either not done this match, or had it on the pre-show and had Axel go over. It would have got the night off to a much better start, and not been another deflating case of WWE having the hometown star doing the job.
