10 Live Observations From Attending WWE Raw In Minneapolis
5. Chill Out Mick
Perhaps this came off better on TV, but in person, Mick Foley’s speech was laughably bad. I heard a couple people around me chuckle at how over the top he was with someone remarking “All he does is get really quiet or yell.” Yeah, pretty spot on.
He did get one solid “Foley!” chant going, but it seems that the legend has badly damaged his aura during his most recent return to TV. It’s not all his fault, as he’s placed as a lapdog to Stephanie McMahon, but his acting is so over-the-top so often that you just want to tell him to take it easy for a bit. He could present Curtis Axel vs. Bo Dallas and still be fighting back tears. And I don’t know, Sasha is carrying on the legacy of Eddie Guerrero? That seems a bit much to me.
I’ll have to watch the TV version later, but the live crowd (at least in my area) wasn’t exactly enthralled by the company’s first real attempt at making the match feel like a dangerous affair. It seemed WWE had forgot to do that in the preceding weeks, because they were too busy being self-congratulatory, so they had to try way too hard in 10 minute to make this match suddenly mean something.
