10 Live Observations From Attending EVOLVE Wrestling Over WrestleMania Weekend

6. WWE Missed The Boat On Sami Callihan

After an uneventful two years in NXT, Solomon Crowe requested his WWE release. Since coming back on the indies, Sami Callihan has gone back to his old name and reclaimed his position as one of the scene's top talents.

Callihan scored decisive wins over Ethan Page and Anthony Nese, and the latter match was one of the best under-five-minute-long bouts I've seen in a long time.

The matches were designed to build Callihan up leading to an EVOLVE Championship match with Timothy Thatcher at Saturday night's WWN Mercury Rising show, and they did the trick - as did a creepy promo Callihan cut on Thatcher.

Callihan is a talented star on a roster full of talented stars, and what really sets him apart is his intensity. The self-titled "Callihan Death Machine" wrestles like an absolute maniac, and his facial expressions help convey an attitude that separates him from the pack.

WWE could have done a lot more with him, but their loss is EVOLVE's gain.
