10 Live Observations From Attending EVOLVE Wrestling Over WrestleMania Weekend
7. ZSJ Is BITW
One of the highlights of the entire weekend was getting to see Zack Sabre Jr. ply his trade in person.
For those who are unfamiliar with the talented British star, Sabre has competed in a host of promotions across Europe, Japan, and the U.S. He's the current Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Heavyweight Champion and a two-time winner of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Bryan Danielson Award.
On Friday's show, Sabre faced fellow U.K. standout Will Opsreay in what's been, as of the time I'm writing this, the best match I've seen this weekend (yes, better than Zayn versus Nakamura).
It was a classic battle of high-risk offense versus pure technique, and Sabre picked up the win. On Saturday, Sabre took on Matt Riddle in another great contest, but came up short when the former UFC fighter submitted him.
There are big things in Sabre's future, as well. Not only is he part of the Global Cruiserweight Series, but it's rumored that WWE's interest in him runs deeper than just using him in the tournament. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on ZSJ.
