2. Even In Defeat, Nakamura Sends The Crowd Home Happy
Remember what I said about the Chris Jericho/Steve Austin match from 2002? Well, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The main event of the evening was a WWE Championship match with Jinder Mahal defending the title against Shinsuke Nakamura. The match itself was perfectly fine, but just felt more like a formality than anything else considering the end result was obvious since the two are already booked for a title bout at Hell in a Cell.
Thanks to interference from the Singh Brothers, Mahal ultimately retained his gold, ending the event's babyface winning streak. However, after the Singhs continued to beat on Nakamura after the match ended, he rose up and took his revenge, laying the two out, satisfying the crowd's desire to see a Kinshasa, and scaring Jinder off.
After the fact, the people in attendance got to the ending to the show they wanted, with Nakamura standing tall while his music played. The cowardly heel escaping with their belt while the beloved babyface gets the last laugh never gets old, it seems.
