10 Live Observations From WWE Raw Live From Detroit
5. Southern Horror Film
They're hyping New Day and Wyatts. This one has legs. During the showing of the video, most of the crowd had their phones lit. It was very, very cool.
The video itself was strange and interesting. It elicits some southern horror movie genre feelings from me. And it has to be said, but there's a tinge of old racism in there. Old southern folk style--in a "you don't belong here" sense. Not overt. Very subtle, and hard to pick up on until the end when everyone has masks on with their lanterns.
To be clear, I'm not at all suggesting the WWE is making the Wyatts out to be some Ku Klux Klan stable. Not at all. But the style and feel to the video absolutely made me feel icky. That's not a bad thing.
The video timing is also ironic after the Hardy's did their taped outdoor match for TNA last week.
