The theme of EVOLVE 59 on Saturday afternoon was USA versus Europe, with a best of four series determining which team would win. Naturally, as a best of four series, it ended in a tie - The Netherlands' Tommy End beat USA's TJP, USA's Matt Riddle beat England's Zack Sabre Jr., England's Marty Scurll beat USA's Timothy Thatcher, and in the main event, USA's Ricochet beat England's Will Ospreay. With the two sides tied, Sabre suggested an impromptu eight-man tag to settle the score, but Thatcher was nursing a hurt arm, so Chris Hero came out as a replacement. Before the match could start, Hero and regular partner Tommy End cleaned house, and Hero said that his Mercury Rising match with Sabre would serve as a tiebreaker. The two men opened up the supershow with a war of a match filled with hard strikes and tight holds. I expected Sabre to win, given that he's never beaten Hero, but in the end, the former EVOLVE Champion put the British star down with a series of strikes to the back of the neck, giving Team USA an unofficial victory in the series.
