10 Live Observations From WWN Mercury Rising 2016

7. Don't Bet Against Ethan Page

Ethan Page has had a strange character progression in EVOLVE. He joined the company and soon turned against Johnny Gargano, sparking one of the best feuds of 2015. The bad blood came to a head at EVOLVE 49 in October, where the two battled in an "I Quit" match. Gargano promised to leave EVOLVE if he lost, and given his relationship with WWE many thought that was a possibility, but Johnny Wrestling scored the win in a great encounter. Shortly after the bout, Ethan Page promised to turn over a new leaf, and just like that, he was a babyface - he's even come to Gargano's aid on occasion. Of course, his good behavior seems to be nothing more than a charade, and fans are still waiting for the other shoe to drop. That lack of faith in Page has prevented fans from getting behind him, even during his "Anything Goes" match with Tony Nese at Mercury Rising. Nevertheless, the two fought tooth and nail, with Page's mastery of psychology and Nese's huge bumps turning the match into a masterpiece. By the time Page finally won, the crowd was in the palm of his hand... which should make his turn all the more devastating.
