10 Live Observations From WWN Mercury Rising 2016
8. Matt Riddle Is Even Better Than Previously Indicated
That wasn't it for Catch Point, though - not by a long shot. In the spirit of said competition, team members Tracy Williams and Matt Riddle faced off in a one on one battle. It was the third singles meeting between the two men, and with Riddle having won the previous two matches, Williams was leaving nothing on the table. This match was excellent, with Riddle proving himself once again to be improved beyond all reason. Unlike Riddle's matches at EVOLVE 58 and 59, which were very good grappling battles, this one turned into a hard-hitting pro wrestling bout, with the former UFC fighter showing off his bumping ability and personality. Surprisingly, Williams picked up the win when he forced Riddle to submit to a crossface, giving "Deep Waters" only his second EVOLVE loss. Riddle's improvement has been utterly uncanny. If he continues at this pace, he should be the greatest wrestler of all time by October and a ball of pure energy just in time for WrestleMania 33.
