10 Live Observations From WWN Mercury Rising 2016

5. I'm Out Of The Women's Independent Wrestling Loop

SHINE Champion Taylor Made was advertised as defending her championship against Lucha Underground star Ivelisse, but earlier this week the former LU Trios Champion had to pull out of the contest due to injury. Taylor's managers, So Cal Val and Andrea, claimed that she wouldn't be defending her championship at all, but she was overruled by a company representative, who introduced former SHIMMER Champion Nicole Matthews as her new opponent. The two had a middle-of-the-road match, but it made me realize just how long it's been since I've been well-appraised of the women's indy scene. Most of the wrestlers with whom I'm familiar - women like Cheerleader Melissa, MsChif, Allison Danger, and Daizee Haze - don't seem to pop up in the news too often, and Sara Del Ray has a new job as a trainer at WWE's Performance Center.
