10 Longest Gaps Between WWE Superstars' WrestleMania Matches
7. Nikolai Volkoff And The One Man Gang (11 Years)
With his partner The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff was part of the first title win at WrestleMania, as the dastardly foreigners beat the US Express for the Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania I. There was less success five years later, when as one half of The Bolsheviks, Nikolai spent more time being made fun of by Steve Allen at WrestleMania VI than he did in the ring, where The Hart Foundation would squash the evil Communists in 19 seconds. Eleven years later, Volkoff would not spend much longer than that in WrestleMania X-Seven's Gimmick Battle Royal, being thrown out by old enemy Sgt. Slaughter.
WrestleMania VI was a show full of short matches, giving the roster a quick pay day before Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior did their thing. Consequently, the big grudge match between the former Twin Towers, The Big Boss Man and Akeem, got only 1:49. Akeem's African Dream was over following his quick loss, and when he returned eleven years later for the Gimmick Battle Royal, it was as his original character, the more believable but less entertaining One Man Gang. He was eliminated by another offensive-to-Africans gimmick, 'the Ugandan Giant' Kamala.
